Jerry was born and raised in Jacksonville and attended college at FCCJ and Florida Southern. He attended seminary at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been in full-time ministry for over 20 years, serving as pastor in three churches: 1st UMC in Coral Gables, Asbury UMC in Vero Beach, and Wesley Memorial in Tampa before coming to Beach United Methodist Church in Jacksonville Beach as Senior Pastor in February 2002.

He and his wife Denise have been married for 23 years and have three children: Ryan, Ashley, and Lindsey. Jerry's favorite interests are as follows: time with family, preaching, jogging, lifting weights, snow skiing, eating, watching college and professional football, singing, cooking out, and vacationing on cruise ships, beach houses, and mountain cabins.
