“The Money Trap”

 

Reality:  We live in a culture where money, affluence, and possessions are seen as signs of success, security, and happiness.

 

Temptation:  To live a lifestyle I cannot afford.

 

The Appeal:

I can purchase my way to security and happiness.

 

 

The Hook:

I will spend my way into financial bondage.

 

Are you hooked?

 

 

 

 

 

No one who is financially bound can wholeheartedly serve God.

 

“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7

 

“No one can serve two masters.  Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and money.” Matthew 6: 24

Key Idea:  Don’t buy what you can’t afford.

 “Prudent see danger and take refuge; the simple keep going and suffer for it.” Proverbs 22:3
